The choices behind the page.

Type is the structure.

Playfair Display for the large type, with its italic for single words. Geist for the text. Geist Mono for labels and numerals. All three are self-hosted under the SIL Open Font License. Warm black, paper and a little brass. Photography supplies the color.

The pages are already built.

Next.js App Router, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. Writing lives in MDX. The site exports to static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript for Apache web hosting at Hostinger. The mobile menu and the work filter are the only scripts that run.

Motion is CSS.

Scroll-linked reveals, the contact sheet progress bar and page transitions use CSS scroll-driven animation and view transitions. There is no animation library. Browsers without support show the complete page with no motion. The site also respects the reduced-motion setting.
